Daily Drabble 5/20/14
Today's Daily Drabble is in the style of one of my personal favorite artists, Michael Parkes. Parkes' work is a unique combination of Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Egyptian symbolism; he draws graceful, flowing figures and frames them with empty landscapes broken up by intricate geometric patterns. I spent a large portion of my Painting I class doing a master copy of one of his lithographs-- that experience of studying his work so intimately had a huge impact on my own aesthetic. I don't do as much Art Nouveau as I'd like, but it's certainly something I want to explore further.
This particular composition is a bit haphazard, but I'm still quite fond of it. Watch for the colored version in a future Daily Drabble!
