Daily Drabble 5/29/14

So I've fallen off the radar a bit for the past couple of days-- but not without good reason! A truly ungodly amount of my time has been consumed by my latest triumph.

This is the first piece I've done in preparation for Fantasy Con in July, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the way it turned out. The entire thing was done in Illustrator, if somewhat unintentionally. At first I brought the sketch into Illustrator just to play around with the prospect of doing the lineart in vectors. But as the inking grew more and more complex, I became intrigued by the possibilities of cell shading the piece, and after two days of finagling, this is what came out.

I still don't like Illustrator as well as Photoshop. But I like it a lot better than I did two days ago. And my portfolio was in dire need of an Illustrator piece.

Stay tuned for the process video tomorrow!
